Class Description
A primary focus of mine is to ensure a safe and compassionate space for everyone to feel welcomed in.
To be free to be yourself and BELONG in.

Yoga
Yoga classes include energising and calming postures and breathing practices to help restore balance to our minds and bodies. All classes are designed to help build strength, flexibility, calm and mental focus.
Beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome at all classes (NOTE: the Sunday class is more dynamic and may suit students looking to dive deeper into their practice).
Variations are provided to ensure each student can practice according to their own yoga journey.
Meditation
The meditation component is often preceded by calming breath-work ("pranayama") to help down regulate the nervous system and enhance focus. The meditation practice is also known as "mindfulness". It is practiced sitting upright, unless students need posture variations dependent on levels of comfort. I will be instructing the class toward various focus points ("objects of meditation") to land the attention back to. The class focuses on sharpening the mental muscle of re-harnessing the mind gently back each time we become carried away by thoughts, distractions, mental images etc. It is a gentle, compassionate and rewarding class. Regular practice can become a valuable support to enhance emotional regulation, patience and resilience in our everyday lives.

Yoga Nidra (Body scan & visualisation meditation)
Upon request, classes can include a reclined guided body scan/visualisation meditation. This is 20 - 30 minutes in length. It is a powerful practice to soothe the mind and body and re-centre the self.

Student Feedback
"I get so much out of your classes it is sometimes hard to put it into words...I feel lucky to have shared that space with you even though I only had 2 or 3 sessions with you. As I told you before...I cannot thank you enough for how much you give and energy you put into your sessions...u make everyone feel so welcome and safe and that is really unique...I love that."
Stefanie - Student at Community Yoga Class

"Saya is a welcoming and attentive teacher; she makes her students feel comfortable and capable in her classes. I highly recommend her breath and stretch sessions as both an opportunity to centre oneself and a support for other fitness regimes. Saya is very attentive and makes sure that each of her students feels supported and encouraged. Her classes and sessions are ideal for participants of any level of prior experience. We can all benefit from her proven skill and exceptional kindness."
Alastair Whyte - Editor at Standards Australia

"We have known Saya as a yoga instructor for some 5 years now. She has proved to be a very caring and professional instructor, who takes genuine interest in her students and has a somewhat holistic approach to teaching yoga. Over those years I have also had the opportunity to read some of the articles that she has published and those, struck me as being a perfection reflection of what Saya taught in her yoga classes and her attitude to life. I would highly recommend Saya as an instructor or mentor to anyone."
Daniel Nicolas - Managing Director at ETQ

"Saya encourages students to embrace their own body and abilities whilst empowering them to try new things. She continually brings each practice back to real world experiences and reflections to educate students on the benefits of focusing on breath and movement. Saya’s teaching style is confident which creates a safe, warm and welcoming atmosphere."
Lauren Santos - Copywriter at The Hollard Insurance Company

"Everyday 15 mins breath and stretch in office made a lot of difference in my posture and breathing. All thanks to Saya for organizing these sessions and really miss them now. Saya notices the so called "little" things that really matter and made me realize that my body is more flexible than what I think. I would always like to take classes from Saya and highly recommend her."
Ashwini Jagadesh - Test Consultant at Standards Australia

"Saya's attention to detail brings out the best in her students. During yoga practice she will pick up on the smallest sign of incorrect posture or strain and as a student this helps you also to remember to notice."
Mihira Bodaragarma - Founder at Grubloop

"I noticed a huge difference since attending Saya’s stretch and breath sessions. The biggest take away has been a new found awareness of how I’m breathing (I had no idea how shallow my breath was until Saya’s classes, and how this was contributing to my anxiety) and am more mindful of how I move, use and rest my body. I suffer from occipital neuralgia, a painful nerve condition in my neck and shoulders, and Saya’s classes offered me relief from the discomfort caused by sitting at a desk all day.
Saya is warm, aware, articulate, and makes everyone feel so welcome at her sessions. I could not recommend her more highly"
Jessica Goodwin - Project Manager at Standards Australia
"Attending Saya's yoga class was amazing. She was very welcoming and being a beginner myself, it was straightforward to learn! She was super helpful and really helped connect that mindfulness aspect into daily life. Definitely miss being in her classes."

"Thank you for all the sessions and all the help and knowledge you have shared with Sarah and myself. I have found that I am using techniques e.g. breathing, at my workplace with patients that are stressed and continue to use your meditation suggestions with myself as the last couple of months have been personally very stressful."
